As the longest-serving female Member of Congress, Senator Barbara Mikulski has always been a trailblazer and will now make history once more as the first woman to chair the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of federal, state, and local partners, Prince Georges County has seen a historic reduction in crime rates over this past year. With a 7.1% decrease in overall crime, a 35% reduction in homicides, and 2,240 fewer victims of crimes compared to 2011, Prince Georges County residents are benefitting from safer and stronger neighborhoods.
