How Trump Administration Policies are Impacting You
An efficient, effective federal government depends on workers that are hired based on merit, not political loyalty. President Trump's executive orders threaten to undermine that merit-based system by making thousands of federal employees vulnerable to removal at the President's whim. From unilaterally shuttering federal agencies to offering federal employees a buyout of dubious authenticity, Trump and Elon Musk’s actions defy the Constitution, the law, and the will of the American people. It is part of their mission to overwhelm the public's attention with chaos, crisis, and absurdity. We must not let them.
Just as I have throughout my time in Congress, I will continue to stand up for our federal employees and stand against efforts to harass them through Schedule F and other tactics. Impacts of a Trump-Musk Actions Against the Civil Service:
- Over 144,000 federal employees across Maryland and more than 75,000 federal employees in Maryland’s 5th district.
- Nearly 20% of all workers in MD-5 are federal workers, the highest percentage of any district across the country. 48,236 active duty and reserve personnel serving our nation's armed forces are in Maryland.
