Mr. Chairman, Mr. Vice-Chairman, and members of the Committee, I am pleased to be here today to offer my support for H.B. 1168.

Good morning. I want to thank Third Way for hosting, and I want to thank all of you for this opportunity to address one of the most compelling challenges our generation faces – achieving a sustainable long-term budget outlook.

Mr. Speaker, it is my honor this morning to express the gratitude of the House for this morning's opening prayer by one of Maryland's most dynamic and inspirational faith leaders, my dear friend Pastor Jonathan Leslie Weaver.

Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) joined Prince George's County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III, Governor Martin O'Malley, Lt. Governor Anthony Brown, Senator Barbara Mikulski, Senator Ben Cardin, Congresswoman Donna F. Edwards, Maryland State Senator Doug Peters, Maryland State Delegate Jolene Ivey, and Prince George's County Council Chairman Mel Franklin to promote Prince George's County as the right choice for relocating the new, consolidated Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) headquarters.The new FBI headquarters will be home to 11,000 jobs and is estimated to be a $2 billion economic development project.

Good afternoon. I am here today, along with other Members of the Maryland delegation and state and local officials to declare that at every level of government, Team Maryland is fully behind Prince George's County as the next home of the FBI's headquarters.

As chair of the Congressional Fire Caucus, it has been the privilege of a lifetime to get to know so many of our nation's outstanding professional fire fighters.

I was pleased to host a grant writing workshop today for Fifth District organizations that are enriching the lives of Marylanders of all ages.
