It is fitting that the theme for this year's gala is "All in for justice and equality. That's exactly what the Prince George's County NAACP has been fighting for.

I want to thank the Prince George's County Department of Family Services for collaborating with my office to host this important roundtable on domestic violence, and the representatives from each organization that attended.

Today, I had the opportunity to see firsthand how LifeStyles is a lifeline for many vulnerable families in Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary's Counties.

I was pleased to join with the Tri-County Council, the Southern Maryland Navy Alliance, the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, and the Energetics Technology Center in announcing this $1.9 million grant and continuing the work we've already begun of promoting greater diversification that will lead to economic growth and greater opportunities for Southern Maryland families.

I was honored to celebrate the dedication and commitment to service of those who have made Walden Sierra a source of hope, treatment, and comfort to so many in the Fifth District and throughout Southern Maryland.
