Hoyer Tours University of Maryland Department of Veterinary Medicine

COLLEGE PARK, MD – Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) toured the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Maryland and the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine housed at the Avrum Gudelsky Veterinary Center on the College Park campus.

"I was pleased to visit the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Maryland today to tour the Avrum Gudelsky Veterinary Center's state-of-the-art facilities and learn about the cutting-edge research programs in animal and public health being conducted," said Congressman Steny Hoyer. "Veterinary medicine plays an important role in communities across our state and I'm pleased that the University of Maryland is making a global impact through world-class education and innovative research. I look forward to continuing to support their mission to protect and improve both the health of animals and the people of Maryland and our nation."

The institution ranks in the top tier of animal and human health research centers in the country, and collaborates with federal institutions like the Food and Drug Administration and the National Institutes of Health.
