One week ago today, the first round of expanded Child Tax Credit payments, provided through the American Rescue Plan, hit the bank accounts of thousands of eligible families in Maryland.

Brown (MD-04), Congresswoman Terri Sewell (AL-07), Congresswoman Ann McLane Kuster (NH-02), Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE-AL), Congresswoman Robin Kelly (IL-02), and Congressman Tony Cárdenas (CA-29) reintroduced the Health Enterprise Zones Act, H.R.4510, to close the gaps in our health care system that have left behind minorities and underserved communities.

Thanks to the work of Democrats in Congress, the American Rescue Plan included a significant expansion of the Child Tax Credit. Last week, the first round of these monthly, automatic Child Tax Credit Payments were sent to hundreds of thousands of Maryland families to help them cover day-to-day expenses and set their children up for success. Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) applauded the inclusion of $1,675,000 million in funding for mental health services and restorative justice training in Prince George’s County. The funding was included in the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies and the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies funding bills for Fiscal Year 2022.
