Secretary Shinseki has served our nation with honor and distinction. His decision to step down reflects his carefully considered determination that the VA will be best served with new leadership as it addresses the unconscionable actions by some working in the Phoenix Veterans Affairs Health Care System and potentially other VA health facilities over the past few years.

Today, Tori Bellucci, a 2014 graduate of Huntingtown High School, introduced President Obama at his Healthy Kids & Safe Sports Concussion Summit and shared how concussions she suffered while playing soccer impacted her ability to continue playing the sport.

I congratulate the Maryland Port Administration on being honored today during the President's ‘E' Awards presentation, which is the highest recognition any U.S. business or organization can receive for significant contributions to increasing our nation's exports.

The VA Inspector General's interim report that was released today is deeply disturbing and demands action to correct the systemic problems that left 1,700 veterans off of the electronic waiting list at the Phoenix VA Health Care System.

I join in honoring the fallen heroes of our nation this Memorial Day and in upholding our shared responsibility to comfort and care for the loved ones and communities they left behind.
