Hoyer Throws Out First Pitch at Bowie Baysox Game
BOWIE, MD – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Bowie Baysox baseball game at Prince George's Stadium this evening. The Baysox played against the Erie SeaWolves of Erie, Pennsylvania.
"It was an honor to join the Bowie Baysox and to throw out the first pitch at tonight's game," said Congressman Steny Hoyer. "The Baysox have been a staple in Prince George's County since 1993 and a major asset to Bowie and our entire region. Not only have they brought sports and entertainment to Prince George's Stadium, but they've also created community programs that encourage student academic achievement. We take great pride in this team and in these programs, and I know the Bowie Baysox will continue to be a great institution in the Prince George's community now and into the future."
The Bowie Baysox team is the class Double-A Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. More than 150 Baysox players have moved on to play in the Major League, many of them for the Orioles.
