One of the greatest privileges I have as a Member of Congress is to nominate talented young people from the Fifth Congressional District to our service academies each year.

While important funding for transportation projects in the Fifth District–including finishing the beltway interchange at the Greenbelt Metro Station–were included in the plan released today, I am deeply disappointed that the Governor chose to shift some of the cost of the Purple Line to Prince George's and Montgomery Counties.

These three students have exhibited great personal character and academic achievement to earn an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy, and it was truly an honor and privilege to nominate them.

I was honored to host leaders of the NAACP today and to thank them for the work they do on behalf of the Fifth District and our state.

I was pleased to visit the NOAA Center for Weather and Climate Prediction this morning and to thank Dr. Uccellini and the employees for the work they perform on behalf of American families and businesses every day.

I was very pleased to meet with Parker today to congratulate him on his history project and to wish him well as he competes against students from across the country.
