I was pleased to honor the talented Fifth District students who won the Congressional Art and App competitions.

We write to request information regarding the State of Maryland’s efforts to address problems that occurred during the 2018 elections and to make meaningful improvements to voter registration, voter access, and election security to ensure that Marylanders can exercise their constitutional right to vote in the 2020 elections.

I am pleased that the University of Maryland, College Park received this important funding.

We are here today to call on Leader McConnell to stop taking orders from the NRA and start listening to the voices of victims and those whose communities have been impacted by gun violence.

Good morning, my name is Steny Hoyer. I am the Majority Leader for the House of Representatives... We have been out of Congress for just a few days on summer recess. During that period of time, we have confronted great tragedy. Sadly, continuing tragedy.

I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my good friend and a great American, Bob Waxman.

Passionate, well-prepared teachers are crucial to our students’ success. We need educators who can champion STEM learning and engage our students on these important subjects.

I join with communities throughout the Fifth District in recognizing National Night Out.
