NEWSLETTER: Black Lives Matter
A MESSAGE FROM CONGRESSMAN STENY H. HOYER
Our nation is experiencing great pain and frustration. The murder of George Floyd and countless other African American men and women is a travesty and lays bare the systemic racism and violence that continues to plague our country. Black lives matter, and the killing must stop. I stand in solidarity with the hundreds of thousands of Americans peacefully protesting, who are fighting for civil rights by speaking out for justice and equality for all.
Yesterday, I joined Prince George's County Executive Angela Alsobrooks and community leaders to discuss the urgent need for police reform. You can watch our conversation here.
The charges filed against the four officers involved in the murder of George Floyd is a step toward justice, but we must also take action as a country to create real change. I will work with the Congressional Black Caucus to bring to the House Floor legislation to strengthen accountability and address the racial injustice and inequality that confronts us.
As always, I encourage all Fifth District residents to continue to share their concerns and insights with me by contacting my office or connecting with me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
Sincerely Yours,
Steny H. Hoyer
