Yesterday, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05), Senators Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and Ben Cardin (D-MD), and Congressmen Dutch Ruppersberger (MD-02), John Sarbanes (MD-03), Kweisi Mfume (MD-07), Anthony Brown (MD-04) announced the Senate passage of new legislation to open two veterans clinics in Baltimore and Prince George’s County. The bipartisan Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring Our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics Act (PACT Act), which passed today by a vote of 84-14, provides healthcare benefits for all generations of toxic-exposed veterans for the first time in the nation’s history and will improve access to care for all those who served in our nation’s armed forces. The legislation now moves to the House for consideration.

oday, Congressmen Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05), Anthony Brown (MD-04), Dutch Ruppersberger (MD-02), John Sarbanes (MD-03), Kweisi Mfume (MD-07), Jamie B. Raskin (MD-08), and David Trone (MD-06) announced they secured $500 million toward a new, consolidated FBI headquarters in the Fiscal Year 2023 Financial Services & General Government Appropriations legislation. The bill also includes language that requires the Administration to use this and previous federal spending on a new, fully consolidated FBI headquarters at one of the three sites currently under consideration by GSA: two Maryland sites, Greenbelt and Landover, and one site in Virginia, Springfield.

Hoyer and Senators Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) announced $1,937,953 in federal funding to enhance shoreline restoration and coastal resiliency at the Piney Point Lighthouse Museum and Historic Park. This funding from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation’s Emergency Coastal Resilience Fund (ECRF) will be directed to the St. Mary’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation to combat ongoing shoreline erosion, flooding issues, and habitat deficiencies associated with the park to better protect this coastal community treasure.
