In addition to presenting checks to chapters in the 5th District, Hoyer helped volunteers in St. Marys County rebuild and repair the home of a retired oysterman, and later joined volunteers for a celebratory picnic in St. Marys County at the end of the day.________________________________________________________________________

Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) announced that the Prince Georges County Fire/Emergency Medical Services Department has been awarded a federal Fire Grant in the amount of $20,403. As co-chair of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus, Congressman Hoyer was very active in helping establish and fund the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, which helps local fire departments in Maryland and across the country buy equipment and provide adequate training.________________________________________________________________________

Hoyer was named as this years recipient of their Excellence in Fire Safety Award in recognition of a career of service dedicated to the advancement of fire safety.
