Before the Affordable Care Act was signed into law, roughly 63,200 Medicare beneficiaries in Maryland fell into the donut hole and received no extra help to defray the cost of their prescription drugs. Now, the health care law is working to help seniors who once were forced to choose whether to buy prescriptions or put food on the table.

This week, we pause the work of this House to mourn the lost lives of six of our fellow citizensone born on that day of tragedy and carnage when thousands were slain in an equally indiscriminate, heinous act of hatecitizens shot dead on Saturday in Tucson, Arizona in pursuit of their right to peaceably assemble.
