Im pleased these outstanding students and their instructors visited the Capitol today. I enjoyed meeting with them and thanked them for their hard work in the JROTC program, which provides important leadership training and aerospace science education that will prepare them for the military and jobs of tomorrow.

I commend the Maryland General Assembly and Governor OMalley for ensuring the enactment of this important bill, which will allow our service members, veterans, and their spouses to transfer their military training, experience, and skills into civilian certifications, licenses, or academic credits that will help them find well-paying jobs.

Im deeply disappointed that civilian employees at NOAA may be furloughed beginning in June because Congress has not reached an agreement to replace sequestration with a balanced alternative.
