Hoyer Hosts Reception Honoring Fifth District Students Offered Appointments to United States Military Service Academies

April 14, 2014

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) announced the names of 10 Fifth District students nominated by him who have received appointment offers to attend one of four United States military service academies for the next school year. Yesterday, he held a reception honoring all Fifth District students who have received military service academy appointment offers and their families at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC.

"Congratulations to this year's military service academy appointees," stated Congressman Hoyer. "Appointing talented young people to our service academies is one of my favorite responsibilities as a Member of Congress because I know that, like others who have been through the academies, their influence will help shape this country for years to come. In the military, government, science, businesses, the arts, and education, graduates of our military service academies have made a lasting impression on American life. I know these young people will continue this tradition, and I thank them for making this commitment to our country and for making all of us in the Fifth District incredibly proud."
