The COVID-19 crisis has impacted nearly every aspect of life, and this funding awarded to the University of Maryland, College Park will help us better understand how this pandemic is affecting the mental and physical well-being of Marylanders.

We urge you to direct the Bureau of Prisons to take steps to ensure that federal correctional staff, including both prison guards and health staff, receive adequate supplies of PPE, regular testing, and health care support, including full pay if they become sick with the virus.

Maryland’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Minority Serving Institutions, and community colleges serving high populations of low-income students play a critically important role in our communities.
