Brown (MD-04) applauded the inclusion of $4 million in funding for the Prince George's County Department of Health to construct a pediatric telehealth network in 100 Prince George's County public schools and provide mental health services to students.

Last week, the first round of these monthly, automatic Child Tax Credit Payments were sent to hundreds of thousands of Maryland families to help them cover day-to-day expenses and set their children up for success. Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) applauded the inclusion of $1,675,000 million in funding for mental health services and restorative justice training in Prince George’s County. The funding was included in the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies and the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies funding bills for Fiscal Year 2022.

When Congress passed the American Rescue Plan in March, included was a significant expansion of the Child Tax Credit. Today, the first round of monthly Child Tax Credit payments will be dispersed to Maryland families, sending assistance directly into the pockets of Marylanders who need it most. I was glad to work alongside my colleagues and the Biden-Harris Administration to ensure the expanded Child Tax Credit was included in the American Rescue Plan.

A MESSAGE FROM CONGRESSMAN HOYER
One week from today, hardworking Maryland families will automatically receive their monthly Child Tax Credit payments of $250 per month for children ages 6 to 17, and $300 a month for children under the age of 6. As part of the American Rescue Plan, this additional assistance will set more children in Maryland up for success, put money in the pockets of parents to meet daily needs, and help fuel our economy.

This week, I was proud to bring my bill to the House Floor – as I did last year – to remove statues of those who worked to uphold segregation, slavery, and sedition from public display in the United State's Capitol.
