NEWSLETTER: Monthly Payments are on the Way to Hardworking Maryland Families

July 8, 2021

A MESSAGE FROM CONGRESSMAN HOYER

One week from today, hardworking Maryland families will automatically receive their monthly Child Tax Credit payments of $250 per month for children ages 6 to 17, and $300 a month for children under the age of 6. As part of the American Rescue Plan, this additional assistance will set more children in Maryland up for success, put money in the pockets of parents to meet daily needs, and help fuel our economy.

The enhanced Child Tax Credit will provide eligible families a total of $3,600 for each child under the age of 6, and $3,000 for each child between the ages 6 and 17. Single parents making up to $75,000 and filing their taxes as individuals, those filing as heads of household making up to $112,500, and married joint filers making up to $150,000 a year are eligible for the monthly automatic payments. These payments will be dispersed through December 2021. Families will receive the remaining expanded Child Tax Credit when they file their 2021 tax return.

Nearly all families in Maryland should receive their monthly payment beginning July 15 without any further action required. However, families that don't usually file tax returns should register for the Child Tax Credit and update important information by using the IRS Child Tax Credit Non-filer Sign-up Tool today.

These monthly payments will be critical to improving the well-being of our families, and I will continue working hard to ensure that struggling households have the resources they need to get ahead.

As always, I encourage all Fifth District residents to continue to share their concerns and insights with me by contacting my office or connecting with me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. If you are experiencing a personal difficulty such as issues accessing veterans benefits or another problem regarding a federal agency and you wish for my office to place an inquiry on your behalf, please complete the casework request form by clicking here.

Sincerely Yours,
