Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) announced that the Maryland Fire and Rescue Unit (MFRI) at the University of Maryland, College Park has been awarded a federal Fire Grant in the amount of $750,000. As co-chair of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus, Congressman Hoyer was very active in helping establish and fund the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, which helps local fire departments in Maryland and across the country buy equipment and provide adequate training.________________________________________________________________________

Congressman Steny Hoyer joined Laura Van Etten, Director of Government Affairs for Fannie Mae, to present Rebuilding Together/Christmas in April chapters in Marylands 5th Congressional District with a total of $15,000 in recognition of their hard work. In addition to presenting checks to chapters in the 5th District, Hoyer helped volunteers in St. Marys County rebuild and repair the home of a retired oysterman, and later joined volunteers for a celebratory picnic in St. Marys County at the end of the day.________________________________________________________________________
