Hoyer (MD-05) joined Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen, and Congressmen Dutch Ruppersberger, John Sarbanes, Kweisi Mfume, Andy Harris, M.D., Anthony Brown, Jamie Raskin, and David Trone in announcing $5,515,055 in federal funding to strengthen Community Health Centers (CHCs) across Maryland.

Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) and Members of the Maryland Congressional Delegation, including Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen, and Congressmen Dutch Ruppersberger, John P. Sarbanes, Kweisi Mfume, Anthony G. Brown, Jamie B. Raskin, and David Trone, sent a letter to President Joe Biden urging him to approve Maryland’s appeal for an emergency declaration in support of the state’s efforts to improve safety and security across the National Capital Region for the 59th Presidential Inauguration.

The COVID-19 vaccine is currently being distributed throughout our state. Though vaccine supply remains limited, I’m encouraged by President Biden’s commitment to increase the number of vaccine doses to states like Maryland, and by the launch of the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program so that individuals can get vaccinated at select pharmacies in their communities.

The January 6th attack on the United States Capitol was an attack on our democracy, and the very core of American ideals and values. Former President Donald Trump’s effort to overturn the clear election result led to the insurrection we saw on January 6.

In new correspondence to the district managers of the Capital and Baltimore districts, the federal delegation cites numerous reports from constituents of “serious, persistent mail delivery delays” involving both letters and parcels.
