Excellent efforts to improve connectivity among St. Mary's County residents.

The Chromebook give away was perfect. It was easy to should qualification.The location was easy to access. The additional information about classes and setup was a good idea. Everyone was helpful.

It was fast, straight forward and overall a great experience. 

You guys did an awesome job. Things like this I believe really help our local community.  Plus you provided us with knowledge of how to save on our internet service bill as well.  As a disabled veteran, I appreciate everything our Govt (Fed, State, and Local) does to help us out. Thank you.

From a sociological and community standpoint I found this effort to be a substantial investment in the community. More specifically narrowing the technological gap (digital divide) between impoverished, disadvantaged and elderly with in our county. Set up and distribution was easy to navigate and information given was easy to understand. More specifically, the handling of setting up the computers for the individuals/families that were not technologically aware or knowledgeable to set it up on their own. Great job overall. 

I was so thrilled to see the organization of the whole process of distributing the laptops. It was well organized, and every member of the group was doing something to make sure recipients get their laptops on time. The broadband expansion idea is good for the community. It will bridge the IT knowledge accessibility gap. I really like it. God bless you. Thank you.

My recent experience with St. Marys County efforts to expand broadband in our community was an tremendous effort. A lot of socioeconomically challenged people were afforded the essential means of digital access.

We were needing a laptop in our home for educational purposes and qualified through Veteran’s pension, and this opportunity came at just the right time. The process for pre-registration and pick-up was seamless. I arrived at the pick-up at 10am and, while there was a line, it moved very quickly with plenty of staff members offering directions and guidance. The process for verifying eligibility and residence was also very efficient. A big “thank you” to those who applied for the grant and to all who were a part of the organization and professional execution of this event!

The process was so easy. Everyone did a fantastic job and made it so it was a very smooth operation. It's so great that we can have something to access the internet. Such a great program. Congrats to President Biden on a fantastic program.

My experience today was so much better than I expected it to be. I pre-registered in hopes there would be a separate line from individuals who did not. I had my 5 year old son with me and the idea of standing in line made me a little anxious. To my surprise the line moved really quickly. It took 40 minutes from joining the line to exiting the room with my laptop. I was really impressed with how quickly and efficient everything operated. Kudos to everyone who made this possible! All of the library employees and other people helping to guide the line were very kind and really helpful. It was great to see the other resources present with information as well. I am very grateful for this incredible blessing and our county's efforts to expand broadband in our community. Thank you!

It was a very nice experience for me I pre-registered and was brought directly to the front of the line. I handed over my documents which the gentleman verified and he handed them back to me and then handed me the laptop! I was actually very surprised at how easy the whole process was. I am extremely grateful and I appreciate everyone who made it possible!

I was pleasantly surprised. I arrived early at the Garvey Center, expecting a long wait. The line was actually opened several minutes early. The ladies from the center were extremely helpful. The folks issuing the computers were friendly, helpful, and ready to assist in anyway needed. The entire process was run very efficiently, and I was walking to my car with a new computer, in less than 20 minutes. 

Outstanding. I was impressed with how well organized it was. It went very smoothly. It could not have been better. They were very professional. We took a van from Cedar Lane Senior Living Community. They were very respectful, patient and helpful. They were efficient and thorough. They answered all questions and provided all the information necessary to set up the Chromebooks.

HUGE THANK YOU to SMCG. In March when COVID restricted everyone to their homes our family was greatly impacted due to the lack of high speed internet. My high school student had to go to a friends house in order to keep up with her studies and attend her classes. I had to rely on a hot spot that struggled to keep up with my day to day work responsibilities. I was not able to keep a connection while attending [Microsoft] Teams meetings and found myself having to travel to the local church parking lot to get connectivity. Receiving our high speed internet in November was a lifesaver, as my employer now has us working from home on a full-time basis. I don't know what I (we) would have done without the efforts of our government. Thanks so much for the service.

Receiving my new FREE laptop was a wonderful experience. The entire process was very smooth and organized. Me and my entire family are appreciative.

You all did wonderful. I have my Chromebook. It is hooked up and works great. I thank you very much. I picked up my Chromebook at the Lexington Park Library the first day that they were given out. It seemed to me that everything went smooth. They were organized and helpful. They had over 375 people received Chromebooks the first day. Thank You! 

The process was very fast and well organized. Being able to have access on a desktop is going to be so helpful to our household. Very happy with the outcome!

We are very satisfied with the St Mary's program to improve broadband access for our high-schooler during COVID.  Although cable was in our neigborhood, the provider estimated ~$7K and >9 months to connect our house.  We could not have moved off our cellphone hotspot approach without the St Mary's program, which made it affordable and accelerated the install timeline significantly. Tax payer money well spent!

The whole process was really easy start to finish. Had no issues at all with signing up or with the install crew for the main cable run. The local cable company was also easy to get the home install completed. Very happy to now have true fast and reliable internet at our home! THANK YOU!

I appreciate County government accessing grant funding to run internet connectivity to our home; otherwise, it would have been prohibitively expensive for us. Thank you.

I have to admit I was very spectacle on getting approved for internet service when I filled the grant application out. After 11 years of trying to get service at our address and being denied and affordability of having internet installed I gave up. But after being notified we were approved for internet through the County Grant we were thrilled. Thanks to the County for helping us as it was a great experience. 

We are thankful to have broadband internet available. We did not have internet access and we hardly had cell service. It was very difficult during COVID for our kids to complete their assignments. It has made a huge difference with being able to work from home at times and for the kids homework and virtual days. 

We are so thankful we now have internet at our home & our rising third grader has been able to log on for virtual school days without any issues. 

Broadband was connected to my house in a very expedited manner and has been extremely valuable in helping my kids have access to educational resources.

Work was done according to plan. Very satisfied with the service. 

We have no complaints. It [has] made work, school, and teenage social media a happier place. Thank you!

I am glad the county finally extended its broadband expansion efforts beyond the families with school age children. These days internet access is virtually a necessity for everyone, and without the county’s contribution it would have been unaffordable by most of us. I have been using the Breezeline internet service almost daily since it was installed and have been quite happy with the service. It makes so many daily tasks easier and faster. 

Best internet service that we’ve ever had.

This has greatly improved our quality-of-life! Prior to this, we were using a variety of expensive and under-performing options. In the new age of teleworking, this has been a game changer. 

Wonderful.  It has made a huge difference in our internet capabilities.

It has been over a year since I applied and received broadband at my house... Once they needed to hook up inside, I was contacted and an appointment made. I have been very satisfied with my internet since. Thank you to the county for allowing me to benefit from this grant. I would not have been able to afford it otherwise since I live far off the main road.

It was very much needed in our community as I am in a very rural area where even cellular services are not always reliable. This has provided a needed service to those who work from home to those for everyday connections, and doctors via the web that we never had before. 

We thank St. Mary's County for bring us into the modern world.

Excellent!  We lived in our home for 14 years and had very limited internet connectivity until last year.  The new service has been wonderful.

As a result of St. Mary's County's support, I was able to have access to high speed internet in my rurally located newly constructed home. Because we were not part of an existing neighborhood, the expense was much too high for me to encumber as a single mom on a teacher's salary. My daughter was able to participate in online learning due to this installation. Many thanks for your seamless cooperation.
