WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Steny Hoyer (MD-05) and U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin (D-MD) announced $707,877.04 in federal funding for seven fire departments in Charles and St. Mary’s Counties. The funding will enhance emergency response capabilities through equipment upgrades, ensuring better protection for both the public and the firefighters themselves.

Lierman, and state and non-profit leaders today to announce that Maryland is participating in the Direct File program. Made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act, this program will allow an estimated 700,000 Marylanders to file their federal and state taxes for free.

"On Sunday night, August 11, Rep. Steny Hoyer experienced a mild ischemic stroke and sought medical treatment. Mr. Hoyer has responded well to treatment and has no lingering symptoms.
