WASHINGTON, DC – This afternoon, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) joined U.S. Senators Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), and Congressmen Dutch Ruppersberger (MD-02), John Sarbanes (MD-03), Kweisi Mfume (MD-07), Andy Harris (MD-01), and Glenn Ivey (MD-04) in hosting Maryland Governor Wes Moore and members of his cabinet for the first time at the U.S. Capitol to discuss federal priorities for the state. WASHINGTON, DC – Congressmen Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05), Bill Pascrell, Jr. (NJ-09), Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01), and Mike Bost (IL-12) today announced introduction of legislation to reauthorize the Firefighter Cancer Registry and increase to $5.5 million the authorization funding level through 2028.

WASHINGTON, DC – This week, members of the Regional Leadership Council (RLC) and its chair, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05), met with Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra for a conversation on the ongoing effort to implement policies and programs established by the American Rescue Plan, the Inflation Reduction Act, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, and other historic legislation that Democrats enacted last Congress.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) and U.S. Senators Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) today announced $5 million for Mallows Bay as part of a $2.6 billion investment in climate resilience projects across the country. This historic investment – provided through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) – is part of President Biden’s Investing in America Agenda which supports communities and people on the frontlines of climate change, particularly Tribes and vulnerable populations.

WASHINGTON, DC – This afternoon, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) spoke on the Floor of the House of Representatives in support of H. Con. Res. 43, his resolution to allow the Greater Washington Soap Box Derby to take place on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol. The annual event, which will take place on June 17, includes youth from across the Washington Metropolitan area, including many from the Fifth District.
