As a strong supporter of the Alzheimers Association in Congress, Hoyer was awarded today as a tribute to his leadership on critical appropriations measures, in promoting rights for persons with disabilities and his work on Medicaid and Medicare issues.________________________________________________________________________

LAUREL - U.S. Representatives Steny Hoyer and Ben Cardin hosted a Prescription Drug Town Hall Meeting at the Phelps Senior Center in Laurel, Maryland today to discuss the new and very complicated federal prescription drug law. The Representatives were joined by the Mayor of Laurel, Craig Moe, and the Director of the Phelps Senior Center, Gina Wade. LAUREL - Congressman Steny Hoyer today visited and toured the UPS regional distribution center in Laurel. Hoyer was led on the tour by UPS District Manager Sonia Schmidt Hoover. UPS is the world's largest package delivery company. Approximately 2,000 employees work out of the Laurel distribution facility, which serves the entire DC metropolitan area. Congressman Hoyer addressed close to 300 UPS employees at the center and recognized the facilitys impressive employee safety accomplishments.________________________________________________________________________

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Steny Hoyer and members of the Maryland Congressional Delegation denounced President Bushs proposed fiscal year 2005 budget, which contains harmful cuts to federal investments in Maryland that the state would be forced to absorb. The House of Representatives is scheduled to consider the fiscal year 2005 federal budget next week, which is expected to be approved today by the Republican-controlled House Budget Committee.________________________________________________________________________

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Steny Hoyer released the following statement today following the release of a study by Admiral Harold Gehman regarding the cancelled servicing mission to the Hubble telescope. Admiral Gehman provided his views to Senator Barbara Mikulski at the request of NASA Administrator Sean OKeefe. The Hubble Space Telescope is managed and operated by Goddard Space Flight Center, located in Congressman Hoyers district, for the Office of Space Science at NASA Headquarters.________________________________________________________________________

Hoyer with the organizations Unsung Hero Award during the Legions 44th Annual Washington Conference on Capitol Hill. A delegation of Maryland Legionnaires joined Rep. WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Steny Hoyer announced today that federal funds he helped secure in the fiscal year 2004 Omnibus Appropriations bill could benefit Maryland farmers. Farmers who sign up for crop insurance by March 15 will benefit from an additional cost-share incentive authorized by Congress. The federal funds will be used to pay 15 percent of the producers net premium at the 70 to 85 percent coverage levels.________________________________________________________________________
