Hoyer Joins "Rebuilding Together with Christmas in April" to Repair Area Homes
"Rebuilding Together with Christmas in April is one of the most outstanding non-profit organizations in the country," said Congressman Hoyer. "I am particularly pleased to join Laura Van Etten from Fannie Mae this year to present their generous donation to support the work of so many Southern Marylanders who are willing to give up a Saturday to help a neighbor in need, and to see what a difference is made - in just one day - in the lives of those whose homes are repaired."
Fannie Mae is providing this impressive funding to Rebuilding Together/Christmas in April as a result of Congressman Hoyer's advocacy on their behalf and in support of the 5th District's strong chapters.
Congressman Hoyer also visited and recognized the outstanding contributions of Dunkirk Supply and Sneades Ace Hardware in Calvert County, businesses which play a critical role in organizing and delivering supplies to Christmas in April worksites in Calvert County.
"I am so grateful to both Dunkirk Supply and Sneades Ace Hardware who provide a tremendous service to our volunteers by organizing and delivering the supplies that are necessary to make this day possible," added Hoyer. "This is a perfect example of why Rebuilding Together with Christmas in April is so successful in Southern Maryland – because the whole community comes together to make a difference."
Rebuilding Together with Christmas in April is the largest volunteer home rehabilitation organization in America and serves the poor, elderly and physically challenged by restoring safety, warmth and security in their homes. Prince George's County became an affiliate of the national organization in 1989, and Anne Arundel, Charles, St. Mary's and Calvert Counties became national affiliates in 1991.
