Mr. Speaker, I rise to pay tribute to an individual who has made a remarkable impact on higher education in this country and in my state. He's done that for more than half a century.

I was pleased to visit McMurdo this afternoon, which is responsible for designing, developing and testing new search and rescue and maritime coastal surveillance systems that are sold to countries throughout the world.

I was pleased to host today's grants workshop which gave local organizations, state and county health offices, and health professionals the opportunity to learn about new funding opportunities focused on closing the minority health disparities gap.

Today I had the opportunity to visit Larry's Hope, a new prison reentry program that will give individuals who have been incarcerated the mentoring, training, services, and support they need to find jobs and successfully reenter society.

We applaud the General Services Administration's recent issuance of a Request for Information (RFI) from developers interested in building a new headquarters facility for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the Greater Washington region. We strongly encourage GSA to choose a site in Prince George's County Maryland.

We are heartened by the explicit commitment made today by the FBI, GSA and OMB to a full consolidation of the FBI headquarters.

I was pleased to visit the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Maryland today to tour the Avrum Gudelsky Veterinary Center's state-of-the-art facilities and learn about the cutting-edge research programs in animal and public health being conducted.
