Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) and Congressman Anthony G. Brown (MD-04) applauded the inclusion of $1.35 million in funding for water tanks to assist the Prince George’s County Fire and EMS Department as part of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration Fiscal Year 2022 appropriations bill.

Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05), Senators Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), and Congressmen Dutch Ruppersberger (MD-02), John Sarbanes (MD-03), Kweisi Mfume (MD-07), Anthony Brown (MD-04), Jamie Raskin (MD-08), and David Trone (MD-06) today announced $10,155,895 in funding through the American Rescue Plan for Maryland’s Head Start programs.

I am encouraged by the increasing number of Marylanders who have been vaccinated and the dramatic drop in COVID-19 cases in our state. Thankfully, our state is in a better place than it was even a few months ago as we work to defeat this virus – and that success is thanks to every Marylander who has gotten vaccinated.

On Child Tax Credit Awareness Day, Congressman Hoyer (MD-05) joined in promoting the benefits of the American Rescue Plan’s expanded Child Tax Credit for Fifth District families. This major assistance puts money directly in the pockets of families throughout our state. The first installment of automatic direct payments will be sent to most Maryland families on July 15. Eligible families will receive $300 per month for children under the age of 6 and $250 per month for children between the ages of 6 and 17.
