WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) announced the names of 17 Fifth District students appointed to the United States Service Academies. The students, nominated by Congressman Hoyer, received appointments to the Air Force Academy, the Naval Academy, the Coast Guard Academy, and the Military Academy at West Point. All of the service academies require a nomination from an authorized nominating source.

UPPER MARLBORO, MD – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) hosted his annual Educators Luncheon in Upper Marlboro recently to honor 17 exceptional educators, teachers, and education professionals in the Fifth District. Honorees included recipients of several leadership awards, including the Washington Post Finalists for the Teacher of the Year and County Educators of the Year Award Winners.

"As today's jobs report indicates, the job market grew modestly last month, with 139,000 jobs added to the economy and unemployment hovering around 4.2%. While positive, the Trump era is averaging one third the monthly job gains we experienced during the Biden Administration, a slowdown that is contributing to Americans' concerns about our economy.
