Good morning, my name is Steny Hoyer. I am the Majority Leader for the House of Representatives... We have been out of Congress for just a few days on summer recess. During that period of time, we have confronted great tragedy. Sadly, continuing tragedy.

I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my good friend and a great American, Bob Waxman.

Passionate, well-prepared teachers are crucial to our students’ success. We need educators who can champion STEM learning and engage our students on these important subjects.

Yesterday's testimony by former Special Counsel Mueller gave the American people an opportunity to hear directly from him about his investigation into Russia’s interference in our election and President Trump’s efforts to obstruct justice.

Today, we saw an example of industry and government working together to address the challenges of climate change in a way that also yields opportunities for American consumers, workers, and businesses.

Mr. Speaker, this is a sad day in the history of the House.
