One week ago today, the first round of expanded Child Tax Credit payments, provided through the American Rescue Plan, hit the bank accounts of thousands of eligible families in Maryland. These automatic monthly payments will continue to provide families up to $300 per child under age 6 and up to $250 per child from ages 6 to 17 each month through December 2021. These payments will have a significant impact on Maryland families, helping parents afford daily necessities like bills, child care, and groceries. It is projected that it will cut the child poverty rate in half.
