Throughout my career, I have advocated for more affordable and accessible education for Maryland’s students. This week, the Biden Administration launched the Student Debt Relief Portal for millions of student loan borrowers. This is the student loan forgiveness application and it is now live.
The economic impact of the pandemic has made it difficult for many families to afford their basic daily needs, much less to make payments toward their student loans. Eligible borrowers may receive up to $10,000 in relief, and qualifying Pell Grant recipients are eligible to receive up to $20,000.
The Student Debt Relief application is simple and takes less than five minutes. You do not need to log in with an ID or upload any documents. The application is available on mobile and desktop, and in English and Spanish. To get started, click here.
Lastly, public servants are eligible to receive credit for loan payments that previously did not qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness benefit. To learn more about eligibility, click here before the deadline to apply closes on October 31, 2022.
As always, I encourage all Fifth-District residents to continue sharing their concerns and feedback with me by contacting my office or connecting with me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. If you are need of assistance, such as with help accessing veterans’ benefits or have another issue regarding a federal agency, and you wish for my office to place an inquiry on your behalf, please complete the casework request form by clicking here.
Sincerely Yours,
Steny H. Hoyer
