Hoyer Visits University of Maryland University College
LARGO, MD– Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) visited University of Maryland University College (UMUC) today to tour the academic center and meet with students for a roundtable discussion on their experience at UMUC.
"Today I visited University of Maryland University College to see firsthand the high-quality education provided to their diverse student body," stated Congressman Hoyer. "From cyber security to health care and science, UMUC provides a wide range of academic programs that will prepare students for the jobs of today and tomorrow. I was especially impressed by the steps taken at UMUC to serve our nation's military personnel, veterans, and their families and help ensure they have the education and training needed to succeed. I thank UMUC students for sharing their experience with me today, and I commend President Javier Miyares and UMUC faculty for their commitment to providing affordable, quality education to working adults in Maryland and throughout the world."
"Congressman Hoyer has a long and distinguished history as a champion of higher education, at both the state and federal levels, so it was a particular pleasure to welcome him to UMUC," said President Javier Miyares. "I was proud to share with him our mission of providing an accessible, affordable, quality education to students in Maryland, across the country, and around the world. Our students who participated in the visit were honored to share their personal stories and perspectives with someone who is so publicly committed to making a positive impact in their lives.
