November 2, 2015

WHITE PLAINS, MD –This morning, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) toured Larry's Hope, a new recovery and prison reentry home established by the Point of Change Jail and Street Ministry in Charles County. The program will assist individuals with a successful transition to the community including financial assistance, GED preparation and job skill training after they are released.

"Today I had the opportunity to visit Larry's Hope, a new prison reentry program that will give individuals who have been incarcerated the mentoring, training, services, and support they need to find jobs and successfully reenter society," stated Congressman Steny Hoyer. "Reentry is a key part of any effortto reform our nation's criminal justice system which is long overdue for improvement. The Point of Change Jail and Street Ministry has been instrumental in giving individuals in Charles County a second chance and Larry's Hope will be another important new effort in addition to several services and programs already offered by the ministry. I thank Larry's Hope founder—Pastor John Lewis—for the work his ministry has done to serve more than 40,000 inmates and returning citizens, helping to change their lives and getthem back on the right path."

The official grand-opening for Larry's House is on Sunday, November 1st. Point of Change Jail and Street Ministry Inc. was founded in 2008 and has been active in the collaboration and launching of jail-based reentry programs and many community-based programs
