Hoyer Statement on the Resignation of Dr. Lillian Lowery
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement today after Maryland Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Lillian M. Lowery, announced her resignation:
"I join in thanking Dr. Lowery for her leadership and service to the state of Maryland over the past three years and for her work to improve the quality of education provided to our students. Under Dr. Lowery's leadership, Maryland schools remained among the best in the nation and the Judith P. Hoyer Program, also known as Judy Centers, continued to grow and thrive. I wish her the best of luck in the next phase of her career. I look forward to working with Interim State Superintendent Dr. Jack Smith, who previously served as the Calvert County Public Schools Superintendent in the Fifth District for seven years."
