Hoyer Speaks at Collective Empowerment Group's 20th Anniversary Platinum Celebration
UPPER MARLBORO, MD– Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) delivered brief remarks last night at the Collective Empowerment Group's 20th Anniversary Platinum Celebration in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The event honored several individuals including Senator Barbara Mikulski.
"I join in congratulating last night's honorees for exemplifying the values the Collective Empowerment Group has successfully promoted over the past two decades," said Congressman Steny Hoyer. "For 20 years, the Collective Empowerment Group has been working hard to bring opportunities to those who need them, whether through financial literacy and homeownership workshops, support for public health programs, education programs, gun buy-backs, and advocacy for a higher minimum wage. As I continue to work with my colleagues in the Maryland delegation on these issues at the federal level, we will continue to rely on the Collective Empowerment Group as our local partners in carrying forward this critical work. I applaud their members for everything they do to improve lives and bring hope to those seeking a better tomorrow, and I look forward to continuing to perform this work together in the months and years ahead."
The Collective Empowerment Group brings together Prince George's County and Washington, D.C. area pastors and church members to focus on financial literacy, education, healthcare, homeownership preservation, public safety and public policy.
