Hoyer Recognizes Anne Arundel County Public School System for National Green Ribbon Honor

WASHINGTON, DC –In celebration of Earth Day today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5)announced that the Anne Arundel County Public School System has been recognized as one of the 2016 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon award honorees.Anne Arundel County Public School System is one of 15 school districts across the country chosen for their efforts to save energy, reduce environmental impact and utility costs, promote health and wellness, and provide environmental education, including green career pathways.

"I congratulate the Anne Arundel County Public School System for this national honor which demonstrates how they are dedicated to high-quality environmental education and committed to being more energy efficient," said Congressman Steny Hoyer. "I applaud their administrators, staff, students, and parents — who all must be very proud — for working together to make communities across Maryland healthier and cleaner. I hope that the Anne Arundel County Public School System will serve as a model for students and schools across the state of Maryland." 

This is the fifth year for the U.S. Department of Education's Green Ribbon School award program and Maryland schools have been recognized each year.
