Hoyer Praises Maryland Public Schools for Earning Number One National Ranking
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) released the following statement today after Education Week released their 2011 Quality Counts report ranking Maryland Public Schools as number one in the nation for the third straight year:
"Investing in education has long been a priority in Maryland, and for the third year in a row, the commitment and hard work of our educators, school administrators, children and their parents has shown proven success. Even during difficult economic times, Maryland continues its strong commitment to public education – consistently working to strengthen education policies and improve student performance. All children deserve a quality education, and helping our children excel in their education is crucial to our sustained economic recovery and competitiveness. I look forward to working together with the Governor and my colleagues in Congress to ensure that Maryland students can continue to excel."
