Hoyer Meets with Maryland's Principal of the Year
WASHINGTON, DC –Today on Capitol Hill, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) met with Maryland's Principal of the Year, Dr. Monifa McKnight. Dr. McKnight is the Principal of Ridgeview Middle School in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and is a resident of Bowie in the Fifth District. She was chosen as Principal of the Year by the Maryland Association of Secondary School Principals, an affiliate of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).
"I was pleased to welcome Dr. McKnight to Capitol Hill today and to congratulate her on her achievement as Principal of the Year," stated Congressman Steny Hoyer. "Our school principals and administrators play critical roles in ensuring that our students have the necessary resources to succeed in their education and future careers. Dr. McKnight has been an outstanding example of a public servant who has dedicated her life to supporting Maryland students and ensuring our state's schools stay among the best in the nation."
Dr. Monifa McKnight attended NASSP's Principal of the Year Institute in D.C. today, which recognized outstanding middle level and high school principals who have succeeded in providing high-quality learning opportunities for students as well as demonstrating exemplary contributions to the profession. Dr. McKnight has served as the principal of Ridgeview Middle School, a Montgomery County Public School, since 2011.
