Hoyer Hosts Grant Writing Workshop
WALDORF, MD – Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) hosted a federal grants workshop with representatives from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and the Foundation Center. Over 70 individuals from Fifth District non-profits, libraries, educational institutions, and local governments attended. Congressman Hoyer kicked off the event and representatives from each of the three organizations presented to attendees.
"I was pleased to host a grant writing workshop today for Fifth District organizations that are enriching the lives of Marylanders of all ages," stated Congressman Hoyer. "The arts and humanities are the cornerstone of our successful democracy, and Congress has a special responsibility to ensure all Americans can benefit from them. That's why I continue to work in Congress to secure funding to support the work of Fifth District organizations and others that support humanities education. I thank the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and the Foundation Center for providing informative presentations today, and I will continue to work with Governor O'Malley, Lt. Governor Brown, and the rest of the Maryland Congressional delegation to bring federal grant dollars to our state and ensure organizations have the assistance they need as they engage in the grant application process."
