WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement today after Mount Harmony Elementary School in Calvert County was selected as a Maryland Blue Ribbon School for the 2018-2019 school year, one of six Maryland schools that were recognized this year.
"I join in congratulating Mount Harmony Elementary School on this important achievement," said Congressman Hoyer. "This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the faculty, teachers, students, and parents at Mount Harmony. Ensuring our students have the education and skills they need to succeed is vitally important for our communities, and I applaud each of the six schools in our state that were recognized with this award."
In addition to Mount Harmony Elementary School, the following schools were selected as an Exemplary High Performing School: Pinewood Elementary School in Baltimore County; Urbana High School in Frederick County; Clarksville Middle School in Howard County; Glenarden Woods Elementary School in Prince George's County; and Ocean City Elementary School in Worcester County. These six schools will be invited by the U.S. Department of Education to apply to be National Blue Ribbon Schools.
