Hoyer Attends Annual Maryland Congressional Delegation Dinner Hosted by the Maryland Chamber of Commerce
GREENBELT, MD – Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) attended the annual Maryland Congressional Delegation Dinner hosted by the Maryland Chamber of Commerce. At the event, he joined other Members of the Maryland Congressional Delegation in answering questions from Chamber members on issues important to the local business community, including how to protect and create jobs.
"I thank the Maryland Chamber for providing the Maryland Congressional Delegation with the opportunity to come together and discuss important issues affecting Maryland's economy and ways we can work together to promote entrepreneurship and job creation," stated Congressman Hoyer. "I have been proud to lead the Make It In America jobs plan in Congress to help provide businesses with the tools that will help them succeed, expand, hire, and sell their products here at home and around the world. However, the only way Congress will act on Make It In America legislation is if there is sufficient demand by the public and business groups like the Chamber. That's why I hope business leaders will continue to raise their voices loudly and clearly to send a message that our state's businesses want Congress to help them make it in America and here in Maryland."
The Make It In America plan will help the private sector create jobs by focusing on four key areas: adopting and pursuing a national manufacturing strategy; promoting U.S. exports; encouraging businesses to bring jobs and innovation back home; and training and securing a twenty-first century workforce. Since the plan was introduced, ten Make It In America bills have been signed into law. Congressman Hoyer continues to urge House Republican leaders, who control which bills come to the Floor for a vote, to bring additional Make It In America legislation to the Floor.
