As we mark thirteen years since the heinous attack on our country on September 11, we come together to remember the 2,977 Americans who were taken from their families, friends, and communities. In the Fifth District, we offer the families affected our thoughts, our prayers, and a promise that their loved ones who were lost on that tragic day will never be forgotten.
We gather in remembrance today of twelve lives taken from their families, from our communities, and from our country on September 16, 2013 at 8:20am – twelve years and five days since 9/11.
I've been involved with the [Congressional] Fire Services Caucus since shortly after [former Representative] Curt Welden, a former [fire] chief in Pennsylvania, started the Fire Services Caucus. It is the largest caucus in the Congress. It is the largest Caucus, as [Congressmen] Bill Pascrell, Peter King, and Dave Reichert will tell you, because we know that the fire service is such an integral part of every community in America.
Since it was established, Job Corps has served approximately two million young Americans between the ages of sixteen and twenty-four, helping them access education, skills training, and job placement so they can escape economic hardship and begin earning a living through a career.
