Hoyer Statement on the Retirement of House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Kay Granger
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) issued the following statement after Rep. Kay Granger, Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, announced that she will not run for re-election in 2024:
“I join my colleagues in thanking Chairwoman Granger for her many years of service, including her fourteen terms in the House of Representatives. From her time as Mayor of Fort Worth to her tenure as Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, she has had a trailblazing career in both Texas and national politics. Democrats and Republicans alike will miss her presence on Capitol Hill after she retires at the end of the 118th Congress.
“I have seen Chairwoman Granger at work firsthand on the Appropriations Committee. She and I disagree on many matters of policy, but we share a steadfast belief in the importance of civility, consensus, and bipartisanship in the appropriations process.”
