ACCOKEEK, MD - Congressman Steny Hoyer today joined thousands of volunteers from throughout Maryland, Virginia, Washington, DC, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia to participate in the 16th Annual Potomac Watershed Clean-Up sponsored by the Alice Ferguson Foundation which is located in Congressman Hoyers district. Rep. Hoyer joined the Executive Director of the Foundation on the banks of the Potomac in Accokeek to talk to volunteers and help cleanup debris along the river.________________________________________________________________________

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Steny Hoyer announced today that the House of Representatives passed a bill which approved major funds to improve Southern Marylands transportation infrastructure. The funds were included in the Transportation Reauthorization bill which authorizes federal funding for transportation projects over the next six years.________________________________________________________________________

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Steny Hoyer today congratulated researchers at Torontos Hospital for Sick Children, the Center for Addiction and Mental Health and the University of Toronto, for identifying a new form of the protein MECP2 which regulates the complex expression of Rett Syndrome (RS) and other neurological disorders including autism, childhood schizophrenia and some forms of mental retardation. This research is reported in the April issue of the journal Nature Genetics, which recently became available online. Congressman Hoyer has been a leader in Congress on Rett Syndrome for over a decade.________________________________________________________________________
