LA PLATA, MD - Congressman Steny Hoyer today visited the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) to announce almost $500,000 in federal funds he secured for business incubation programs supported by CSM and the Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO) Business Incubation Initiative to fund the further development of the existing incubators in Charles and Calvert Counties. The funding will also support business incubation initiatives at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.________________________________________________________________________

PRINCE FREDERICK, MD - Congressman Steny Hoyer visited seniors at the Calvert Pines Senior Center and met with representatives from each of the three Senior Centers in Calvert County today to discuss their important initiative to collect used cell phones that seniors can use in an emergency. Congressman Hoyer donated over twenty used cell phones to the Calvert County Office on Aging.________________________________________________________________________

LAPLATA - Congressman Steny Hoyer joined Steve Edwards from the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute, Lynn Gilroy, President of the Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemans Association, Tom Mattingly, St. Marys County Commissioner and past president of the Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemans Association, local elected officials, and Firefighters and EMS Personnel today to announce the introduction of legislation to reauthorize the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. As a co-chair of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus, Rep. Hoyer has been very active in helping establish and fund the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, which helps local fire departments buy equipment and provide adequate training.________________________________________________________________________

MECHANICSVILLE, MD - This morning, Congressman Steny Hoyer spoke to more than 200 4th and 5th graders at Lettie Marshall Dent Elementary School in St. Marys County. Rep. Hoyer was the keynote speaker at an assembly where the students learned about how laws are made and the legislative process. Congressman Hoyer visits the students at Lettie Marshall Dent on a yearly basis to teach our future leaders about the importance of the legislative process.________________________________________________________________________

CHARLOTTE HALL - Congressman Steny Hoyer today joined community leaders on education and child care issues to observe how a federal grant in the amount of $540,165 that the Southern Maryland Child Care Resource Center received for early learning opportunities is being implemented.
