Hoyer (D-MD) was awarded the George Bush Medal for the Empowerment of People with Disabilities last night at the National Council on Disabilitys 15th Anniversary Observance of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Former President George H.W. Bush presented him with the award. As the lead sponsor of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 in the House of Representatives, Congressman Hoyer shepherded the ADA to overwhelming approval. Over the past 15 years, Hoyer has fought to ensure that the promise of the ADA is fulfilled for all people with disabilities.________________________________________________________________________

Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) today announced that several water resource programs and projects important to the environmental and economic health of Maryland and the 5th Congressional District were authorized in the House-passed version of the Water Resources Development Act of 2005. Each of the following programs were included in the bill at Congressman Hoyers request and will allow the Army Corps of Engineers to make progress on these projects or studies to improve Prince Georges County water quality and surrounding environment.________________________________________________________________________
