The passage of the NDAA conference report today includes an important win for federal employees and their families.

Thank you, Chairwoman Maloney and Ranking Member Jordan. I appreciate this opportunity to submit this testimony for today’s hearing.

House Democrats never sought impeachment, instead demonstrating extreme restraint as we watched this President engage in actions and behavior that we believed to be abhorrent and anathema to our nation’s highest principles.

I want to welcome [Congressman] David Trone and [Congresswoman] Jennifer Wexton.

I am glad that the NDAA conferees have agreed to include twelve weeks of paid parental leave for all federal employees starting in October of next year.

I thank [Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler] for his leadership, and of course I thank [Congresswoman] Terri Sewell, who is from Selma, Alabama, who has been a fighter for voting rights all of her life.

The House has now heard overwhelming evidence presented to the Intelligence Committee regarding the facts of the President’s actions – which have not been rebutted with any contrary facts - and we heard testimony yesterday in the Judiciary Committee from constitutional experts on the grounds for impeachment.

We were proud to …work closely with the House Armed Services Committee Members and staff to ensure that it enhanced this year’s NDAA by helping to recruit and retain the best and brightest Americans to work at the Department of Defense and other agencies throughout our government.
