Hoyer Statement on President Biden's Announcement Increasing Pay for Federal Workers

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the the following statement after President Biden’s announcement that his administration will increase pay for federal workers by an average of 5.2 percent in fiscal year 2024:  

“I am pleased that the Biden-Harris Administration will take action to increase pay for our federal civilian workforce in fiscal year 2024, amounting to a 5.2 percent average increase; the largest in over four decades. It is crucial that we stand up for our hardworking federal workers – especially after the many freezes and cuts they were subjected to under the previous administration.  

“I am proud to represent over 62,000 federal employees in Maryland's Fifth District who serve every day to help make our government function more effectively For The People. I will always fight and advocate for our federal workforce in Maryland’s Fifth District and across the country so that our government can recruit and retain the brightest and most hardworking Americans.”
