Hoyer Statement on November Jobs Report

December 6, 2024

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement today on the November jobs report:

"The November jobs report demonstrates the continued strength of America's job market and economy, with 227,000 jobs added last month and more than 16.3 million jobs added in the past 46 months under the Biden-Harris Administration. With unemployment down near its fifty-year record low, inflation falling, and wages going up, our economy continues on its impressive upward trajectory. By investing in America and Americans, Democrats laid the foundation for this historic period of job growth and economic success.

"Right as many Americans are starting to feel the positive impact of this economic moment, however, President-elect Trump's radical far-right agenda threatens to reverse the progress our country has made these past four years. He has already announced his intention to impose heavy tariffs that will raise costs on everyday products – from produce to clothing to household appliances – reversing the progress we’ve made to tame inflation.

"Trump's extreme Project 2025 agenda also seeks to undercut the historic investments that Democrats made in the American people during the 117th Congress. These policies and programs have created millions of jobs by revitalizing American manufacturing, rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure, and advancing clean energy projects nationwide. The American Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Act have helped more Americans access quality, affordable health coverage than ever before and lowered the costs of monthly health premiums, insulin, and prescription drugs for millions of Americans nationwide. Democrats will fight tirelessly to protect these laws from Donald Trump's scorched earth economic plans – just as we fought tirelessly to pass them last Congress."
